It's fun to comb through the old photo archives from time to time and look at older work with fresh eyes. I found this photo of the lovely Sarah Head today... I love the film noir kind of thing that's going on.
So here are some images from an ongoing sideshow-themed project of mine... I seem to constantly be coming up with grand personal project ideas, though I don't have the grand amounts of time to work on them... Bearded Lady, Knife-thrower, Tattooed Man pictured here.
Coming Soon(ish): Sad clown on a tiny bicycle. And a contortionist loosely based on that fantastic series of images from the Bombay Circus by Mary Ellen Mark http://www.maryellenmark.com/frames/icircus.html
I really like these images of fresh produce from the market... the rich colors and subdued light. But it just doesn't fit into any of my current portfolios. I am mostly a photographer of people, but the more interested I become in cooking and growing food, the more I am drawn to the natural beauty of fruit and vegetables. An added bonus is that working with inanimate objects gives me a chance to really experiment with light and color-- I can take my time and they will for the most part remain unchanged. Stay tuned as I continue to build thisportfolio...
So here are some of my favorite images from my latest project.... I really enjoyed working with these dancers, Noel and Keely and hope that I have managed to capture some of the grace and emotion that they exhibit in their work.
I am a photographer living out here in the beautiful and very inspiring Pacific Northwest. I enjoy making pretty photographs, tending my unruly vegetable garden, cooking good food for my friends, rollerskating, playing with my tiny mutt Bugsy, riding my little red Stella scooter, and reading the New York Times Sunday edition.
